FireRing® HyperCore Programmable Networks
Our FireRing® network systems offer a wide range of options for hardware and interfaces, network control and operation, and data communications protocols.
For a selected datacom protocol, our FireRing® HyperCore design methods and techniques provide an innovative capability to provide virtually any selected protocol. These include Gigabit Ethernet, IP, IEEE 1394, and virtually anything over SONET. One protocol that we have developed extensively for high speed real time aerospace data handling applications is the IEEE 1393-1999 standard, Spaceborne Fiber Optic Data Bus (SFODB).
We currently provide two basic network interface cores for IEEE 1393, the CFBIU (Control Fiber-optic Bus Interface Unit), which is the interface between the PC or other device that is managing the 1393 bus and the bus itself, and the FBIU (Fiber-optic Bus Inteface Unit), which is the interface between data nodes, such as cameras, mass storage equipment, communications devices, etc, and the 1393 bus. The 1393 network is a high speed, high throughput, redundant, ring network designed to suit the special needs of aerospace applications.
Space Photonics 1393 logic core offerings include both cores with specialized I/O interfaces that are designed to work with Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGAs on custom Space Photonics hardware as well as more general cores suitable for use in any FPGA or ASIC development with appropriate SERDES hardware.
