
LaserFire® Optical Communications Transceiver
Space Photonic’s® LaserFire® Free Space Optical Communications Transceiver incorporates our patented MEMSspot® beam pointing, acquisition, and tracking (PAT) technique. The system provides unprecedented PAT bandwidth and resolution in a low cost, low power product. The enormous benefit of this technology is the elimination of heavy, power hungry gimbals, as well as providing a very low mass approach that does not “shake” the platform as gimbals do, whether it be a satellite, a UAV, a tank, or on top of a tower. Additionally, the beam steering system can be used in any size telescope allowing for a wide range of link distances. We have completed optical designs that allow up to 40 o field of regard (FOR) from a single channel but multi-channel configurations can accommodate up to a full sphere of laser communications access. Our current systems offer data transfer rates from 125 Mbps up to 3.2 Gbps.

Our current LaserFire® transceiver fits entirely into a 6 inch cube and weighs less than 1 kg. However, we can provide any custom configuration required, providing a virtually unlimited range of configurations.
